Earthprints is a South Florida based organization dedicated to educating students about the science of climate change and how to reduce their carbon footprint, inspiring them to become a force of change for their future.
What is a carbon footprint?
An ecological footprint is the measure of humanity’s impact on the planet, our demand on nature. A carbon footprint is a measurement of all greenhouse gases we produce in our day-to-day lives through burning fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transportation, etc.
Our carbon footprint is half of humanity’s overall ecological footprint and the most rapidly growing component. Reducing our collective carbon footprint is the most essential step we can take to live within our means on our planet.
What does Earthprints offer in the school?
We offer unique, interactive classroom presentations designed to connect students with the natural world they inhabit. Students become empowered to make thoughtful choices that help create a positive impact on their environment.
We also assist classrooms in creating edible schoolyard gardens that serve as outdoor science laboratories for all ages.

How long are the presentations?
Presentations are approximately one-hour in length. Programs can be tailored to individual classroom needs. Depending on the level of detail, a module can be completed in one or two visits.
Do the presentations meet Florida State Sunshine Standards?
Yes. Our presentations meet grade level educational science standards.
Do you offer presentations for all grade levels?
Yes. Edible schoolyard gardening can begin in the pre-K level and is an effective learning environment for all grade levels.
Lower elementary students presentations highlight the three R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle.
Upper elementary students focus on natural resources, garbage, energy, the science of global climate change and ways for students to reduce their ecological impact on planet earth.
Middle and high school presentations emphasize the science of global climate change, its impacts-both locally and globally, and how collectively, we can reduce our carbon footprint.
What is your background?
As a non-profit manager, Master Gardener, and National Wildlife Federation Habitat Steward & Global Warming Ambassador, I’ve educated thousands of students and adults on energy, climate change and ways to live a more sustainable life.
I’ve also participated in the semester length Climate Discovery courses, designed for classroom educators teaching the science of climate change, through the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR).
Check out my LINKS FOR EDUCATORS page for some hands-on classroom activities.
